School History
Founded in 1926 by Arthur Gulliver in Coconut Grove, the academy initially catered to families wintering in Florida, similar to prestigious northeastern U.S. academies.
In 1953, Marian Krutulis acquired the school. A pioneer in education, Marian envisioned the school as a luxurious home where students and teachers felt like part of a caring family. Over the next 25 years, she moved the academy to Coral Gables, built a preparatory school in Pinecrest for upper-class students, and received the Blue Ribbon of Excellence from the U.S. Department of Education, solidifying Gulliver's status as one of the top schools in the region.
Today, Gulliver Prep serves over 2200 students from Pre K3 through 12th grade across four campuses. Despite its growth over the past 60 years, the school remains committed to Marian Krutulis’s vision, emphasizing physical and emotional health, and preparing students to become honest, responsible individuals.
