Long Key State Park, located on the island of the same name, offers a relaxing stay for guests and residents of Miami and Florida. The Spaniards, who discovered this island, called it a serpentine, because its shape resembles a large serpent with an open mouth.

In 1912, the construction of railways ended on the east coast, and Long Key Island ceased to be considered a remote region. Now there was a railway, and a real resort was quickly built next to it.

However, in 1935, the resort suffered a devastating hurricane, like many other buildings in the region. But after some time the island and all the buildings, houses, infrastructure units were restored. Today, this place attracts not only ordinary tourists, but also avid fishermen from all over the world, because here you can gloriously profit from a variety of different types of marine life.

History of the Long Key Park

The beautiful Long Key State Park appeared in the late 60s, and today it attracts everyone with its beauty and warm climate. The park area at the time of opening amounted to almost 400 hectares. The coast of the park is very clean, the water is crystal clear, and this cannot but please the lovers of photography — picturesque corners are scattered throughout the territory of Long Key State Park.

The beauty of the reserve requires a slow and relaxing holiday, so it is better to plan a trip for several days in order to fully enjoy all the beauties of the Atlantic coast.

Park infrastructure

In the center of Long Key State Park are several showers, as well as comfortable toilets and waste containers. Respect nature, take out the trash after visiting the reserve!

Convenient camping for a different number of people is equipped here:

• there are places for grilling;
• small tables for the convenience of a picnic;
• water and electricity are supplied.

This type of vacation is popular among tourists, so you should take care of booking a place before visiting a natural corner of nature. Also on the coast of the presented reserve, special zones are organized with points of sale of food and playgrounds.

Fun for avid fishermen and water lovers

You can have a lot of fun in this paradise! And almost all entertainment is connected with water, because the park is in a unique place with quiet waters and beautiful landscapes. There are also specially equipped places for snorkeling, fishing and swimming.

If water attracts you only as an object of creation, then you can take a walk along the paths leading into the depths of the park. For example, the Golden Orb trail offers a forty-minute walk through five zones with amazing plants. At the end of the road you will find a tower with beautiful views of the island and the water.

Once a week, extended excursions are held on the territory, during which the guide talks about the features of the local ecosystem. At the time of the tour you are waiting for amazing passages built by a tree through dense mangroves, as well as cozy paths, tiled.

The second trail runs through the bay and takes only 15 minutes to walk, but also offers amazing views.
