Hugh Taylor Birch Park history

In 1893, a lawyer from Chicago decided to create something really very significant and valuable, and, having moved to Florida, began construction of a secluded house on a large plot.

This site was located on a picturesque ocean, which Birch really wanted to save for people. That is why, at the age of 90, he bequeathed this place for its further exploitation as a green zone for all comers. In 1949, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, located near Miami, opened and became accessible to people.

Currently, Taylor's house, built in the exquisite art deco style of the best Mediterranean traditions, boasts various exhibits and interesting layouts. All of them tell not only about the interesting life of the founder of this place, but also about the story of Fort Lauderdale. Not without historical reference regarding the park itself.
