Robert Ripley was an American cartoonist, entrepreneur, and enthusiast for the unusual. Born in 1890 in California, he began his career as a sports cartoonist. The column quickly became popular, allowing Ripley to expand his activities to radio, television, and eventually, the creation of a network of museums.
Ripley traveled the world in search of exotic stories and items for his collection. He passed away in 1949, but his legacy lives on in the "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" museums, which continue to entertain and amaze visitors to this day.
The 15 galleries, which house the most extraordinary items from around the world, were created by an anthropologist and artist who visited two hundred countries.
