Butterfly & Nature Conservatory in Key West

Discover a world of colorful butterflies and tropical nature at the Key West Conservatory.

The Butterfly & Nature Conservatory is a fascinating attraction known as a butterfly conservatory located in Florida, on Duval Street, in the city of Key West. It is essentially a park enclosed by glass walls.

Inside, there are about sixty species of butterflies collected from every corner of the globe. This site is ideal for group tours. The park is equipped with climate control.

Features of the greenhouse

Strolling through this tropical paradise, adorned with some of the most beautiful butterflies on Earth, visitors can fully appreciate the vast collection of exotic plants with flowers, colorful birds, and picturesque water features. The park is home to up to sixty species of diverse butterflies brought here from all corners of the world, as well as over twenty species of tropical birds that fly freely, causing no harm to the butterflies.

A visit to the educational center operating within the conservatory is a logical conclusion to an exciting tour. Guests at the center are offered the opportunity to learn about the biology of the monarch butterfly species. One can also explore caterpillars and attempt to raise a butterfly from a caterpillar.

Guests are shown a short 15-minute film that shares fascinating facts about butterflies. There is also a chance to observe caterpillars under magnification as they feed and develop on their plants. The diverse life of various butterfly species around the planet can be followed using a large map that depicts the distribution of butterflies by their natural habitats and provides detailed descriptions of all their species with illustrations.

It is noteworthy that those butterflies that inhabit the greenhouse, were not collected in natural habitats, they were not removed from nature. These insects were bred in special institutions.

Art Gallery

The conservatory features paintings by the artist Trofia. For over thirty years, his imagination has allowed the painter to depict butterflies and their world in unlimited variety. Trofia's paintings have transformed the walls of residential and commercial buildings into true kaleidoscopes of natural charm, captivating art enthusiasts across the USA.

After 5 PM, when the art gallery closes to visitors, it's possible to book the space in advance for various events. For instance, an unusual evening for a bride and groom can be arranged there. The hall can accommodate up to twenty guests. As a wedding gift, the newlyweds will receive flutes decorated with butterfly drawings.

Groups of ten or more people receive discounts on visits to the conservatory.
