Atmosphere and Interactive Exhibits

The Discovery Children's Museum, located downtown, is open to visitors from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday, and from noon to 5:00 PM on Sunday. Tickets are priced at $13 for both children and adults. The three-story museum focuses on science, art, and culture, providing unique opportunities for interactive learning.

One of the most beloved exhibits is The Summit, a 70-foot tower that offers children the chance to climb and explore different scientific principles on each level. Parents and children can enjoy interactive stations that make learning fun and memorable.

Exhibits and Zones for Different Ages

  • Toddler Town — Ideal for children under 5, where they can play with animal sound toys and dress up in various costumes. For older kids, there's Fantasy Festival, where they can imagine themselves as astronauts, cowboys, or any other characters.
  • WaterWays — One of the most popular exhibits, featuring a network of water-filled tubes through which colorful balls travel, explaining principles of motion and water force. This interactive adventure allows kids to have fun while learning about water and its properties.
  • Wonder Cabinet — A specially designed zone for younger children (up to 4 years old), encouraging exploration and creativity in a safe and stimulating environment. Here, kids can create artworks in the studio and engage in other exciting activities.

History of the Museum

The museum was founded by Robin Greenspun and Mark Tratos, who established a partnership between the Junior League of Las Vegas and the Allied Arts Council in 1984 to create a nonprofit educational institution.

In 1985, a grant was secured for the construction of the Las Vegas County Library and Children's Museum building, which opened its doors on September 9, 1990. In 2010, plans were announced for a new, larger home in Symphony Park. The total project cost was $50 million.

In August 2010, the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation made a donation to cover the construction of its block in Symphony Park. $43 million of this was spent on the construction of the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The museum raised the remaining $7 million needed to complete the project. The new museum opened on March 9, 2013.
