Amelia Earhart Park in Miami

Amelia Earhart Park is an ecological haven in Miami named after the famed aviator. The park offers a range of activities from an animal farm and bike trails to a lake for water sports.

Features of the infrastructure of the park

Amelia Earhart Park is a wonderful place located in the north of the suburb of Hailia, in the west of Miami, and is ideal for families. Its area is located on 208.5 hectares of land, and the infrastructure is so developed that even children will not be bored.

The park was founded in 1926, but it got its name only in 1947 in honor of the legendary aviator. She was one of the first women who decided to fly across the Atlantic, but her plane disappeared somewhere off the coast of Europe.

A well-thought-out route for cyclists, the total length of which is 13 km, is located on the territory of the southern park. There are climbs and exciting slopes. You can always rent a bicycle, and it will not be very expensive. It is also attractive that on the territory of Amelia Earhart Park, all the tracks are divided: for beginners and advanced level. Only three tracks, and the most difficult cyclists are waiting for extreme climbs and descents!

In the park, there is a small village named for Bob Graham, who was a state senator. On its territory there is a small contact zoo:

  • adults and children will be able to see how the cows are milked;
  • They will appreciate the features of sheep shearing;
  • learn about other features of caring for all animals on the farm.

Children will be able to stroke and ride a pony, help to comb and feed them. In the brook next to the farm you can watch the fish. An exhibition hall as well as an insect museum are located near the local barn. The purpose of creating these two places is to introduce urban children to the peculiarities of agriculture, and to develop respect for rural labor in them.

In this village, pioneer farms were recreated in the most unique way with modern things that make life more comfortable — air conditioning, devices for the kitchen and animal care.

In the park there are many equipped corners for playing soccer, for fitness and yoga, as well as for other sports and outdoor activities. Here you can even play golf on the 18-hole course.
