Bass Museum of Art

Created in 1963 from the Bass family collection, this establishment is located in the heart of Miami Beach and is one of the city's key cultural hotspots.

Permanent exhibition Bass Museum of Art

All collected items were given free of charge by the spouses to the city on one demand: the collection of works should be in the public domain for all who wish to see it.

The buildings of the Miami Beach Arts Center and the former public library were chosen to demonstrate the exhibition. Organizational work and installation of exhibits took a whole year, so the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach began to function fully only in 1964.

In addition to permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum offers for viewing and discussion of author's cinema, various lectures on themes of art and culture, small concerts and family tours.

Initially, over three thousand exhibits were displayed over an area of 15 thousand square feet. The entire collection is divided by direction and time of creation. Over time, as the number of art objects increased, the museum space expanded significantly. In 2000, the area of the museum became more than 35 thousand square feet or 3250 square meters. Not a little, right?

For permanent display, the creations of the great masters of the Renaissance are offered. So, Italian artists are represented by canvases by Sandro Botticelli, and Dutch painting — by Peter Rubens. The Flemish tapestries of the 16th century represent the same time.

Oriental and contemporary art and non-permanent displays of the Museum of Art

Not ignored the organizers of the exhibition and the art of the East. It is represented by collections of Japanese prints and Asian ceramics.

The Art Nouveau era, an exciting period from the end of the 19th century to the present, is represented by the works of classics of this direction: Picasso, Matisse, Caldera, Herve di Rosa.

Along with the works constantly presented in the museum space, success is enjoyed by interchangeable exhibitions, where the creations of contemporary masters are presented to the public. In addition to artistic paintings, this includes sculptures, clothing, interior items, and products reflecting the Haitian voodoo art.

The Bass Art Museum is located in the heart of Miami Beach on 21st Street.

This is really a great location, since within walking distance there are shopping areas, restaurants and, most importantly, South Beach, where you can swim and sunbathe, and then begin to enlighten yourself with art and culture.
