HistoryMiami Museum

HistoryMiami Museum is a repository of exhibits about 12 thousand years of Florida history. Is a portal into the past of this exciting city.

Features of the HistoryMiami Museum

An excursion to the Historical Museum, developed by the Smithson Institute specifically for this institution, tells the story of southeast Florida, greater Miami and the Florida Keys Islands.

The two-story building covers an area of over 3.7 square kilometers. An exhibition of folk history is based on the top floor where you will be introduced to the most ancient exhibits. The age of some is 12 thousand years. On the ground floor in the lobby there are two independent galleries. Here you can buy a souvenir so that the excursion to the HistoryMiami Museum will leave a pleasant memory.

Regular exhibitions and excursions for city sights, the development of educational and research programs, the active involvement of local residents and guests in studying the past and its impact on today's life in Miami - this is not a complete list of what the museum does.

Antique objects, photographs and authentic documents show how today's Miami, a rich cultural and tourist center, grew out of an unappealing swampy island.

400 years have passed since the discovery of the poor Indian settlement at this place and all documented historical facts are at the HistoryMiami Museum.

Exhibits of the HistoryMiami Museum

The storehouses of the HistoryMiami Museum contain more than 13 thousand artifacts dating back to the times of pre-Columbian America. In addition, the building houses a research center and archive, which provides scientists and students with a lot of visual material for writing works.

Lectures and scientific events are held on the ground floor. There are also administrative premises and closed storage facilities with exhibits that the museum did not take into the main exposition. The history of Miami has become closer to locals and tourists since 1979 — the moment of discovery.

The HistoryMiami Museum complex is not just a collection of historical values, but an object of national importance, because it contains many archaeological finds made in the state. The museum also often exhibits works by contemporary artists, and under the auspices of the famous Art Basel festival participates in exhibitions.

An excursion to the HistoryMiami Museum enriches tourists culturally and makes a stay in Miami not just a vacation in a sunny paradise, but also develops and strengthens the thirst for knowledge.
