The best shows on Independence Day
Fireworks are a surprisingly big deal in Seattle. The celebration of the Fourth of July still causes a serious stir. The scope is so great that it is not limited to just one show. Next, we will talk about the most iconic festivals taking place on July 4 in Seattle and cities nearby.
Every July 4th, visitors and residents of Seattle witness the show as thousands of fireworks light up the sky as citizens celebrate Independence Day. Tens of thousands of dollars are spent on shows per day in a single city. Firecrackers of different sizes are connected to a computer, and with its help they are launched to the beat of the music.
Preliminary preparation takes a lot of time — but the final result, when colorful flashes of sparks illuminate the night sky from all over the city, is worth it. In total, several thousand firecrackers of various calibers, from 4 to 6 inches, were prepared. After the last projectile takes off into the sky, you will be stunned by the volume of applause.
In the article below you will find out from which points in the city the best view of the fireworks opens and what time is best to come.
- Seafair Summer Fourth
Although Seafair Summer Fourth is not the biggest Fourth of July event, it is the most spectacular. Fireworks can be watched from both ends of the lake, beer tasting and a pie eating contest, sack races are held.
The event is free, although there is a fee for seats with the best view, but their number is limited. The show starts at 22:15.
- Bellevue Family 4th
The festival takes place in the 20-acre Bellevue Downtown Park. Here you will find cheerful visitors, a food court and the main stage, where live music will sound all day. It will culminate with a performance by the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra along with spectacular fireworks at 22:05.
- Fourth of July Kirkland
The center of Kirkland hosts a full day of events related to the holiday. The most significant event is the parade around noon, which ends with fireworks at 22:15 in Moss Bay, visible from most local parks.
- Tacoma Freedom Fair
With 125,000 attendees on the two-mile Tacoma-Waist Way, this massive event claims to be the largest in Washington State and the third largest in the nation. It hosts air shows, car shows, bands, three beer stalls from 45 vendors, and pole vault competitions. And all this during the volleys of fireworks at 22:10.
- Renton's Fourth of July
This patriotic celebration on the south shore of Lake Washington begins at 8:00 pm with a volleyball tournament, flows smoothly into entertainment at Jean Coulomb Memorial Park, and ends with a 25-minute fireworks display accompanied by music from Seattle's legendary bands.
Visiting Tips
If you decide to head to Tacoma, our guide will help you choose one of the pubs where you can have a good evening. If you're in Kirkland, we suggest heading to the Flatstick Pub or stomping around on the Cactus Café patio until sunset, then head to Marina Park to watch the show.
You definitely can't go wrong with a lakeside bar like Westward. Thanks to its excellent food and beach, it is the best restaurant on the shores of Lake Union. It will also be the best place to watch fireworks.
You don't have to worry about getting the best view of the show if you have a rented boat. If you can't afford it, American Butler can help you book a cruise with cocktails.
It can get chilly on the beach at night, especially in Tacoma, where the show takes place on the shores of Puget Sound rather than Lake Union. But most likely it won’t rain - in the summer in Seattle it doesn’t pour so often.
Have a memorable July 4th by calling American Butler and booking a tour of Seattle!
