Festivals in San Diego

In this category, we have presented the best San Diego festivals worth visiting.

Music Festivals, Concerts, and Holidays San Diego

San Diego is the birthplace of California and the first place in Western America where Europeans landed. And the city takes it. Located just north of the Mexican border, the city has a Mexican influence that extends to cuisine, museums, monuments, and theatres. And what are the numerous music festivals of all kinds!

Here the weather is fine, long, leisurely days and soft, warm nights. These conditions are ideal for going to the festival and listening to an outdoor concert.

San Diego has live music every evening, so you can safely attend one of the many music festivals that take place throughout the year. For example, during the summer, local radio stations organize their own one-day shows.

Check out American Butler's list of the city's best music festivals.

  • KAABOO Del Mar Festival

KAABOOO is located in the exhibition complex Del Mar. The festival focuses on modern and promising electronic artists, as well as already established groups: Aerosmith, Hall and Oates, Chris Isaak, Jason Isbell, Cypress Hill and many others.

Unlike major festivals, KAABOO provides a venue for local groups to perform in front of a large audience. In addition, comedians perform here. So, last year Dana Karvey, Cheech and Chong were here.

  • Adams Avenue Street Fair

Normal Heights is one of San Diego’s most charming neighborhoods, where boutiques, cafes and bars await your visit. Therefore, when music begins to play along the main business street, this makes an already interesting corner of the city even more exciting.

Every September, the fair hosts over 100 performances on eight stages. The festival is free and open to all.

  • San Diego Music Thing

Music Thing focuses on individual small scenes in the city center. Every fall, several large headliners, such as Liars or Titus Andronicus, appear in the program. A number of small side shows take place throughout the city at Soda Bar, SPACE and The Casbah. With the purchase of a special bracelet, you will see as much live music as you want.

  • Carlsbad Music Festival

Most of the festivals in San Diego are focused on rock and pop music, but just above the 5th highway in Karlovy Vary, there is a music festival that brings together everything from folk and jazz to contemporary artists.

Performances take place in different parts of the district, both indoors and outdoors. This is a celebration for those for whom traditional pop music is not enough to quench their appetite.

  • CRSSD Festival

One of the fastest growing festivals in San Diego is CRSSD. It started in 2015 and is held twice a year. Electronic music and headliners such as The Flaming Lips, Chromeo, and Empire of the Sun take part in it.

Where rave culture is usually associated with nightly events, CRSSD takes you to the dance floor under the open sun in a water park. The event has a 21+ restriction, which gives some advantages. For example, breweries are not separated from the rest of the festival. Add to that the excellent cafes serving snacks and drinks, and attending the festival will turn into an impeccable way to spend a weekend.

  • Spirit West Coast

Positioned as one of the country's main Christian music festivals, the annual Spirit West Coast Concord is a concert that pays tribute to faith. Founded in 1997, the festival presents the best names in Christian music, as well as young performers. Headliners in the past were Jars of Clay, TobyMac, and Relient K.

  • La Mesa Sundays

Six summer concerts at La Mesa take place at Harry Griffin Park Amphitheater. Here you will hear performances of brass bands in the style of New Orleans, rock of the 70s and modern jazz.

  • San Diego Summer Choral Festival

The San Diego Summer Choir Festival attracts vocalists from all over the world who gather to share devotion to choral singing. The event is held in two places, both of which provide incredible acoustics for performances. Participants with vocal abilities can join and practice in musical technique, expand their repertoire and chat with talented singers.
